Kenneth R. Cohen, PhD

Kenneth R. Cohen, Ph.D., is the President and Founder of The Synergy Organization, the leading Evidence-Based executive search and leadership assessment firm specializing in helping healthcare organizations apply research and psychological testing to their executive recruitment, selection, executive development, succession planning, and retention practices. Over the last 20 years, he has conducted several national best practices in leadership research studies and helped his progressive clients to apply these results to operate most cost-effectively, productively, and to improve several other organizational outcomes. His most recent research investigated what the most successful and progressive hospitals and Trustees can do to facilitate their senior executives' success and to avoid President/CEO Turnover. Dr. Cohen also created the proprietary Synergy Screening System® that simplifies the often challenging task of hiring/promoting the right senior executives; this is currently being used as a standard practice by many respected healthcare organizations around the country.
Dr. Cohen also has been recognized for leading several respected national research studies involving "Best Practices in Healthcare Leadership". He has conducted many seminars on effective leadership, recruitment, selection, executive development, Board/CEO relationships, and retention strategies for many respected hospitals and healthcare organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), the Center for Healthcare Governance (CHG), several State Hospital Associations, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), taught at both the graduate and undergraduate level, and he has written, been published or interviewed in professional journals and publications including Board Room Press, the AHA's Center for Healthcare Governance's Monograph, Contemporary Long Term Care, Healthcare Executive, Healthcare Informatics, Hospitals and Health Networks, HR Pulse, Nursing Homes, The Wall Street Journal, and Trustee. He earned his Masters and PhD as a Psychologist at Temple University and his Bachelors in Psychology at Dickinson College.
