Javon has a wealth of experience in the national healthcare arena, having served extensively at renowned medical centers throughout the country. This experience includes a decade at the Mayo Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota, Virginia Mason Hospital/Mason Clinic in Seattle, Washington, and Daughters of Charity National Health System—Providence Hospital, Southfield, Michigan.

Since joining Mercy Hospital in 1989 as President/CEO, Mercy has grown from a single, stand-alone community hospital to a completely vertically integrated healthcare system. The Mercy Health System, which today has 43 facilities in 20 communities across seven southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois counties.

In 1989, Mercy had no integrated physicians. Today 265 multi-specialty physicians are completely integrated partners in the Mercy Health System. These physicians participate in every aspect of the system’s development, especially their insurance products, MercyCare Health Plan and Freedom Health Plan, which now has a network of a 29 provider facilities and more than 471 contracted practitioners in 9 state line counties. The vertically integrated health system includes all aspects of the healthcare continuum and over the past thirteen years has grown over twelvefold in its gross revenues.

Mercy Health System was the only hospital and health system in Wisconsin to win three major national awards, one of the Top 100 U.S. Hospitals by HCIA/Mercer Management, one of the best 100 investment opportunities by Kemper Securities, and the American Hospital Association “Great Comebacks” award for overall excellence.

In November 1998, The Center for Healthcare Industry Performance Studies (CHIPS) ranked Mercy the #1 Fastest Growing Health System in the United States for “same store” growth (not as a result of mergers). In February 2001, Mercy was ranked 21 of the Top 100 Integrated Healthcare Networks in the nation by Modern Healthcare magazine and S.M.G. Marketing Group and advanced to number 13 in 2002. This award evaluates 600 of the nation’s largest health care systems and is based on critical success factors such as range of health care services offered, ease of access to these services, and the number and availability of system physicians.

Javon received a master's degree in Hospital and Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1978, and was awarded the Kellogg Foundation fellowship. Mr. Bea is a Fellow in The American College of Healthcare Executives.

Javon is married and has six children.
