Thomas A. Atchison, Ed.D.

jorlikoffs.jpgThomas A. Atchison, Ed.D., is President and founder of Atchison Consulting Group. Since 1984, Dr. Atchison has consulted with healthcare organizations, on managed change programs, teambuilding and leadership development. He has consulted to the military, healthcare vendors and government agencies on the intangible aspects of healthcare. He also has taught several courses on leadership and change management for the American College of Healthcare Executives.

His consulting practice focuses on measuring and managing the intangibles that drive change. Typically, he consults to senior executives, managers, trustees and physician leaders.

Dr. Atchison presents to thousands of healthcare professionals a year on the elements of effective organizations. He has written and been featured in a number of articles, audio and video tapes about motivation, managed change, teambuilding, and leadership. Dr. Atchison´s book, Turning Healthcare Leadership Around, was published by Jossey-Bass in October 1990. His second book titled, Leading Transformational Change: The Physician-Executive Partnership, was published by Health Administration Press, a division of the Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives, in October 2001. His next book, FOLLOWERSHIP: A Practical Guide to Aligning Leaders and Followers, was published by Health Administration Press, a division of the Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives, in November 2003. His recent article, "Exposing the Myths of Employee Satisfaction," was published in Healthcare Executive in the May/June 2003 issue.

Dr. Atchison´s expertise in healthcare is built on over 30 years experience in a variety of management positions in healthcare institutions and organizations. Dr. Atchison is an Associate member at American College of Healthcare Executives.

He earned his doctorate degree in Human Resource Development from Loyola University of Chicago.
