Ken Ackerman

Mr. Ackerman brings a distinguished career background in health care administration to HealthCare Compensation Strategies, a division of Clark/Bardes Consulting - Healthcare Group. It encompasses management of hospital-based multispecialty medical group practices and acute care facilities as well as Ken Ackerman executive-level involvement in the nation's largest rural health care system, Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania, where he served as president of Geisinger Medical Center. Most recently, he was vice president of McManis Associates, Inc., prominent national consultants to the health care industry based in Washington D.C.

Mr. Ackerman is an acknowledged expert on health care policy development issues, integrated delivery system development, governance, medical group practice operations, and strategy and program coordination with physicians.

At HealthCare Compensation Strategies, Mr. Ackerman works in support of Donald C. Wegmiller, president and chief executive officer since 1993, and as a senior consultant to HealthCare Compensation Strategies' clients.

A fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) as well as the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), Mr. Ackerman is also a past president of the Medical Group Management Association and a past chair of its strategic planning and government relations committees. He continues to serve on the ACHE's Regents Advisory Council.

Mr. Ackerman has served the health care industry in many ways. He has been a member of HHS's National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and a director of the Healthcare Research and Development Institute. His numerous professional honors and awards include 1975 Outstanding Young Health Care Executive of the Year, the Harry J. Harwick Award for outstanding lifetime contributions to health care, the Edward B. Stevens Article of the Year award from the ACMPE, Duke University's National Award of Merit and the American Medical Group Association's Administrator of the Year award. He is the author of numerous articles and most recently co-authored two books on integrated health care. He is listed in Who's Who in America.

Mr. Ackerman holds a bachelors degree from Denison University. He received his master's degree in health care administration from the University of Michigan.
