David M. Kolb

David M. Kolb is founder and President of Prism, a professional development firm emphasizing an integral approach to leadership excellence. He brings over 30 years of experience in business and interpersonal relations to his work as a consultant, educator, and organizational leader. He is passionate about helping his clients find ways to remove the complexity in their relationships so trust and truth become the currencies of commerce.

Mr. Kolb’s passion is enhancing interaction between people—especially for those in leadership. His clients report increased effectiveness in their professional work as well as their personal lives. He has developed an integrated development model for leaders, Leadership in a New Light. He recently created the Executive Leadership Institute to help senior leaders meet the challenges of leadership through integrating all parts of their life—personal and professional—to achieve their highest aspirations.

His efforts span a range of industries including health care, high tech, energy, and finance. He has also worked with educational and non-profit organizations. He helps clients achieve the capacity to balance the economic business necessities with the reality of the needs of the people performing the work.

David's varied professional path has shaped his unique approach. He has been in business—from construction and sailing charters to a center for human development. He earned his M.A. in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. He was an instructor in personal and organizational psychology at Naropa Institute and Boulder Graduate School. He was Director of Training for Ridge Associates and is a faculty member with Lockwood Leadership International. He is a registered counselor and serves in leadership roles in several non-profit organizations.

A native of Pennsylvania, David lives in Freeport, Maine, with his wife, Serena. They eagerly capture every opportunity to be with their three adult children. He thoroughly enjoys woodworking and home improvement projects. But he is most rejuvenated when he is on the sea or on a trail.
