Center for HealthCare Governance - Speaker

George F. Lynn

George F. Lynn is past president and president Emeritus of AtlantiCare, which he helped establish in 1993. Lynn has more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience. AtlantiCare is the largest healthcare provider in southeastern New Jersey and one of the region’s largest employers. AtlantiCare includes AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC), AtlantiCare Behavioral Health, the AtlantiCare Foundation, AtlantiCare Health Plans and AtlantiCare Health Services.

Lynn served as president and chief executive officer of both divisions of ARMC from 1986 to 1993. Under his leadership, ARMC evolved into a regional medical center offering state-designated services in oncology, trauma care, neonatology and cardiac care. His innovative application of business-oriented process improvement protocols dramatically improved customer service, patient and employee satisfaction and financial viability.

Lynn conceptualized a model for healthcare organizations based on delivering superior clinical services and improving the overall health of the community. That vision became a reality with the formation of AtlantiCare in 1993. The volunteer Board of Trustees of AtlantiCare elected Lynn as AtlantiCare’s first president and CEO, a position he held through March of 2007.

Active in civic, professional and charitable organizations, Lynn is past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA), a position he held from January of 2004 through December of 2006. In that role he consulted with hospital leadership and staff across the country to identify best practices and to develop solutions for healthcare issues and challenges. Lynn has also served as a delegate to Regional Policy Board 2 and as a delegate to the Section of Metropolitan Hospitals. He is past chairman of the New Jersey Hospital Association.

Lynn was among Modern Healthcare's "100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare" for 2005.

Lynn earned his Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and received his Masters in Business Administration degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 1997.

Lynn and his wife Pat have two married children and four grandchildren. They reside in Linwood, New Jersey.
