Why you should attend...
what you will learn
The Center for Healthcare Governance presents its fall Symposium on governing and leading health care organizations. In this three-day program at San Francisco’s elegant and historic InterContinental Mark Hopkins, trustees and executive leadership will gain insights into the strategies, tools and practices that will enable them to lead their organizations to exceptional performance.
In plenary sessions, industry experts will offer analyses of the contextual issues framing the current health care environment—from a shifting economy and changing demographics that are shrinking the pool of talented workers, to rising expectations for transparency and accountability, and new demands on leadership. In small group, interactive sessions, we’ll explore emerging models and innovative strategies for reshaping governance responsibilities and processes so that the board brings real value to the organization. Special attention will be paid to proven practices for strengthening board performance, optimizing board/CEO relations, and resolving board conflict.
The program also features high-level case study presentations by the nationally recognized leaders of several exceptional hospitals and health systems. In these sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to follow the journeys that these organizations have undertaken to achieve excellence in quality, governance, and physician engagement. Your board will enhance its capacity to oversee quality and strategy development, and gain insights into its role as an influential and trusted advocate, well-prepared to connect with your community. Interactive afternoon sessions on Tuesday, October 2nd offer attendees additional opportunities to ask questions and discuss the most critical challenges facing their organizations.
Consider arriving early to enjoy the weekend in San Francisco and register your newer trustees for the pre-symposium workshop focused on hospital trustee boardsmanship. This introductory level course offers a curriculum that is especially attuned to the informational needs of new trustees.
By attending the Symposium, participants will learn how boards must change to lead the transformation of their institutions, and the industry as a whole. Trustees will leave more informed about the evolving health care environment, more attuned to their individual and overall governance responsibilities, and more prepared to engage in active and inspired leadership.
