Mr. Wegmiller is chairman emeritus of Integrated Healthcare Strategies
– Healthcare Group. The Healthcare Group is the nation’s leading authority on executive compensation and physician compensation for health care organizations. Mr. Wegmiller brings more than 35 years of experience in health care administration to the Healthcare Group, many spent managing multi-hospital systems. Prior to coming to the Healthcare Group, he served as Vice Chairman and President of HealthSpan Health Systems Corporation, Minnesota’s largest health care network.
Mr. Wegmiller continues to hold policy positions in state and national health care associations. He has served on the boards of numerous publicly held corporations over the past 20 years, and currently serves on the boards of a large, diversified utility; an emerging medical device company; a medical diagnostic equipment company; a company with a proprietary, interactive, customized health plan design for health insurance; and a software and services company relating to documenting and coding medical procedures.
Mr. Wegmiller has written and lectured extensively about a number of health care topics and his work has been published in a variety of national health care publications. He currently teaches health care administration at the University of Minnesota, Duke University and Arizona State University.
From 1986 to 1988, Mr. Wegmiller served as a chairman officer of the American Hospital Association, serving in 1987 as the organization’s chairman, the highest elected office. He also has been named a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and in August 2002 was named by Modern Healthcare as one of “Healthcare’s 100 Most Powerful People.”
Mr. Wegmiller received both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in health administration from the University of Minnesota.
